A0230 Halifax Land Reclamation

In September 2023, ANET undertook Project A0230—land reclamation at an obsolete tower site in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The assignment involved removal of deteriorated tower footings and restoration of the landscape to preconstruction conditions. This work was critical for Rogers Communications Inc. to comply with environmental and municipal regulations following tower decommissioning. Our team excavated and removed all legacy concrete footings, then backfilled the site in controlled lifts using native blastrock and progressively smaller aggregates. After achieving the original grade line, we applied a layer of topsoil and hydroseeded native species to promote rapid vegetative cover and erosion control. Throughout, we adhered to strict environmental management plans, ensuring no disruption to adjacent wetlands or protected areas. Delivered at $160,000, the restored site now blends seamlessly with its surroundings and meets all reclamation standards. Rogers has lauded ANET’s attention to environmental stewardship and quality workmanship.
