Off-Grid Hybrid Power for Remote Cell Sites

As part of its growing focus on renewable and hybrid energy systems, ANET Fiber Tech Inc. successfully integrated solar and wind technologies into a telecom deployment for Rogers Communications. While traditionally engaged in civil, structural, and electrical scopes for wireless infrastructure, ANET is expanding its capabilities into solar PV and wind power solutions. This project demonstrates our ability to combine telecom and renewable expertise, delivering sustainable off-grid power in some of Ontario's most remote northern regions.

ANET designed and installed a 48 kW off-grid hybrid power system serving three cell tower sites (C8455, C8456, C8457) at Hopper Lake, Marquis Lake, and North Burnt Bush Lake. Each location was equipped with multiple photovoltaic arrays, a vertical axis wind turbine, and a propane backup generator to ensure 24/7 reliability without reliance on grid connection. Our scope included structural mounting for PV modules, turbine installation, battery storage integration, and full site civil works. Comprehensive testing and commissioning validated seamless transitions between renewable sources and propane backup, ensuring optimized uptime in challenging northern climates.
